Summer Youth Program

Overview

This seven-week program is designed to develop our community’s youth by providing them with the opportunity to discover future potential careers, setting real life work expectations, and building a strong foundation for employability in a competitive environment.

Scope

This unique program offers classroom training on fundamental life and interpersonal skills, as well as various aspects of the refinery including operations and safety. The program also provides hands-on experience working with refinery and business unit mentors.

Program Dates & Work Hours

June 17 through August 1, 2024

Monday – Thursday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Friday: 7:00 AM – 2:30 PM

You must be able to work the entire
7 weeks and the hours listed above.

Application deadline

Applications & essays may be submitted via this web page (preferred) or at the designated location at your school by Friday, April 12th, 2024.

Pay Rate

$18.50 per hour

Eligibility

  • Must be 17 to 19 years old at the beginning of the program (June 17th, 2024)
  • Must be a Junior or Senior in High School
  • Must be currently enrolled at one of the following schools:
  • Avalon
  • Banning
  • Cabrillo
  • CAMS
  • Carson (Including AMA and AEE)
  • Eagle Tree
  • Rancho Dominguez Prep
  • Vladovic Harbor Teacher Prep

Former Summer Youth and family members of Marathon employees are not eligible.

SELECTION PROCESS

Candidates may be accepted into the program after successful completion of the following steps:

  1. Submit an Application and Essay by April 12th
    (See application for documents required and essay details)
  2. Schedule and attend interview by April 15th
    (Selected applicants Interview period: April 25th- 27th)
  3. Medical Screening by May 24th
    (Includes drug & alcohol testing)

Applications MUST include both your signature and essay for consideration.
